Accurately understanding, validating and tracking value chain emissions is highly difficult and complex due to dispersed, fragmented and limited exchange of emissions data.
A comprehensive and auditable digital accounting system that records and reports your GHG emissions to help you reduce your organisation’s impact in any standard you wish.
What’s the problem you’re trying to solve?
In the light of the ambitious international and national targets for climate change – in particular Switzerland’s decarbonisation goals – trustworthy Greenhouse gas (GHG) knowledge is crucial. However, this is hard to find and confusing due to many existing standards. Furthermore, GHG assessments of value chains are complex and requires resources and time.
What are your goals and milestones?
We aim at providing the globally first comprehensive and auditable digital accounting system on GHG assessments to position Switzerland as the world leader in decarbonisation. The MVP will be launched at the WEF in January 2023. Transforming Switzerland from the trusted private banker to the trusted digital environmental accountant by 2025.
What’s your approach?
As part of the Innosuisse Flagship funding programme, 14 research and implementation partners together with digitalswitzerland create an open, inclusive transparent digital ecosystem to provide up-to-date, context-specific and reliable data on GHG emissions to assess and accelerate decarbonisation actions in Switzerland and beyond.
Through 8 sub-projects, we develop innovative ways to achieve climate neutrality. WISER stands out for its flexibility and possibility to adapt to all expected standards and regulations. (e.g. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and many more!).
What’s the impact you’re aiming for?
Offering one source for trustworthy Greenhouse gas knowledge exchange in order to know the effects of our actions. With it we can provide consistent and transparent benchmark for different standards and labels. With the newly gained source of knowledge, we will support Switzerland in achieving its 2050 net zero climate goals.
