How can we meet the demand for more mobility with less environmental impact?
The SmartWay test app combines together diverse transport modes onto a single digital mobility platform to handle more traffic with less environmental pollution.
What’s the problem you’re trying to solve?
The volume of traffic is growing and everyone is on the road at the same time. Traffic jams and full trains are the result. Being on the move means getting from door to door as quickly as possible. To stay flexible, I also take a bike, e-scooter or car sharing. Planning and booking the various mobility offers is time-consuming. If not everything goes according to plan, I need an alternative quickly.
What are your goals and milestones?
We want to be in two years the leading intermodal, personal and trustworthy mobility app in Switzerland. We have already launched the Testapp SmartWay in December 2019 to develop the new travel experience of the future with our users right from the start. With SmartWay everyone becomes a mobility professional.
What’s your approach?
SBB is committed to being a sustainable and customer-friendly mobility service provider. Together with selected partners – currently the Lucerne start-up Axon Vibe and PostBus – we ensure speed and bundle forces within Switzerland.
The test app SmartWay shows live and uncomplicated available means of transport in Switzerland. In addition to public transport, there are also car routes and sharing offers. These can be booked directly in the app. Information on the destination in question is displayed automatically. In case of obstacles, SmartWay suggests alternatives.
What’s the impact you’re aiming for?
Mobility in Switzerland should become even easier, more personal and more sustainable. Integrated mobility is a key issue for sustainable mobility solutions.
We want to strengthen integrated mobility in Switzerland and thus contribute to the quality of life and location attractiveness of the country.
The economic potential to handle more traffic with less environmental pollution using new technologies and instruments is enormous.
