Little attention is paid on saving potential in operational expenses.
Opportunities by using IoT technology in Facility Management.
What’s the challenge you’re trying to solve?
Qualitative and quantitative synergy potentials between facility management and the connectivity possibilities due to IoT are not sufficiently developed today, and available technology is often not used adequately.
The budget for investments and the budget for operating costs are at different cost centres, thus the operational savings potential is taken too little into account in the planning process.
What are your goals and milestones?
The “Facility meets IoT” group is betting that Switzerland will be able to provide proof that by means of the consistent use of IoT in Facility Management, it is possible to achieve measurable savings of 20% of the facility management costs by the end of 2017 and to increase the workload by 10% for people in buildings.
What’s your approach?
Switzerland offers the best connection between science and industry: the practical education and the corresponding technological know-how allows for a fast, competent and successful implementation (time to market).
The proof has been provided by implementing concrete use cases using today’s available technologies with the use of intelligent systems and services based on them in various objects.
What’s the impact your aiming for?
The effect includes a revolution in the industry, savings of some billion a year are possible.
The value-added for the customer enables a competitive advantage through higher work performance.
