Carpooling

Carpooling

Less traffic and pollution

Status:
Not Pursued

Problem

There is mostly only one person in a car.

Solution

We pool our cars on a platform.

What’s the problem you’re trying to solve?

Due to the overuse of transport infrastructure, Switzerland faces more and more traffic-congestions.
Previous carpooling pilot projects in Switzerland have often failed; This is due to the missing of critical mass, the lack of a mature technology as well as the missing of incentives for providers and riders.

What are your goals and milestones?

The participants of the Carpooling team bet to select a joint carpooling software and launch it with a national roof campaign until April 2018 and to increase thereby the occupancy rate (car per person) in the rush hour to 1.5 by April 2019.

What’s your approach?

The idea of the National Carpooling Offensive is to simultaneously launch carpooling in as many companies and organizations as possible to reach a critical mass of users as quickly as possible and to incentivise potential carpooling users.

What’s the impact your aiming for?

By Increasing the occupancy rate of passenger per car following effects are expected: Reduction of traffic congestion, energy consumption as well as environmental pollution.
